Pfizer has entered into an agreement with Eli Lilly and Company (LLY) to pay $1.2 billion to settle the allegations that they failed to properly diagnose and treat erectile dysfunction.
The deal, which has not been approved by the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will help Pfizer achieve its dream of a new medicine for men with erectile dysfunction. Lilly will pay $500 million to settle allegations that it engaged in deceptive trade practices to artificially lower prices for Viagra.
The settlement, which has not been approved by the SEC, is the largest in Pfizer's history.
In its latest earnings call, Eli Lilly said that it has incurred approximately $8.5 billion in fines, overpayments and penalties related to its sexual health products. It said the settlement was the largest in the company's history, accounting for $2.4 billion in cash and $4.2 billion in debt.
The settlement resolves the sexual health products liability allegations that have been filed in federal court in New Jersey and states that the settlements are the largest in Pfizer's history, and the largest in the company's history in the industry.

The agreement, which was signed by Lilly and Pfizer, would have allowed Pfizer to continue selling Viagra and its related products to the United States market.
